We then followed it up with great very generous gin martinis. At this point, I've been to Restaurant Week several times and have tried many restaurants but the menu and concept was really appealing. It was almost like an easter egg hidden in an overall, seemingly normal menu meant to trick us. The three stars is also due in part to their really bizarre shrimp cocktail, which might have been the worst I've ever had. Otherwise, the food was outstanding--meat so tender we hardly chewed.
Kudos to the waiter for his steak recommendation and rationale according how we liked it cooked. We also had corn creme brulee and edamame as sides, both also very good. We both ordered 16 oz Filets and were amazed by how juicy and well seasoned they were. I am officially in love with the gnocchi in cheese sauce and the cippolini onions. It was just sirloin meat with melted cheese. Well worth it, I'm excited to have this one around.
If it were not for my friend making the reservation, I never would have visited Quality Eats. They were always there ready to assist. The decor is fabulous, with ubiquitous dimly lit bare light bulbs ensconced in artful iron couplings hanging from the high ceilings. For a casual steakhouse, the food is quite delicious. Surf selections include a somewhat dry Dover Sole Meuniere. The sides were definitely the best part of my Quality Eats experience. We went with ice cream scoops for desert.
The best of All — Quality meats is simply fantastic, from the bone in rib-eye to the milk chocolate torte with homemade vanilla ice cream there is nothing bad about this restaurant. All along the service could not have been better! It took over 20 minutes to get our drinks and we continuously found ourselves with empty glasses - not the festive Christmas meal I had envisioned! The waiting staff is phenomenal and the menu has so many options there is always something for even the pickiest eaters. I had the scallops with creamed corn, hanger steak with brandied cherries and coffee and doughnuts ice cream. Awful steaks, lobsters and service. We were there with 8 people and everyone loved their dishes. The crab and avocado was luscious, filet mignon perfect and crispy potatoes out of this world.
Perhaps I came on an off night but my boyfriend and I agreed that brunch is much better than dinner. The servers are very attentive and we did not have to ask them to come over even once. I came here for Restaurant Week Winter 2018 and made a reservation on Resy for three people. As ambience goes, it was cool too. The hostess and wait staff were all helpful and friendly, and it wasn? Coconut cream dessert was also luscious. The Neuvo Chic setting and a good looking crowd only adds to the fun.
While waiting for our table we had a couple cocktails. The atmosphere is incredibly cool and different, not stodgy or testosterone-laden like other steak joints, and my non-steak-eating friends were just as enthusiastic about their meals. I'd ordered my hanger steak medium well but it came out more like medium. During one meal, the trio meat was virtually cold, as if it had been waiting for its clothes for some time. I really enjoyed everything else but I would head somewhere else if I ever wanted steak. Such a well rated meat restaurant with such horrible side dishes. But what really stole the starter show was the bacon.
The people working there could not be friendlier and more accomodating from the host, to the bartender to every server. Service wasn't like others have described, we were seated at 7:30 and didn't get a check until almost 11:00 had to flag down someone to clear our table and get the check. Boyfriend got steak and it came with a strange cheese side that did not pair well. Steak 24 oz Rib was cooked to perfection. I had never done that in my life. We were originally going to be seated upstairs, but as I noticed that the first best table in the house was not taken I asked if we could grab it-- no attitude, just great service with a smile. The ice cream was a tease.
Service was efficient and fast. I left a lot of chewy, fatty bits on the plate. Only found out about it by mistake seeing it in the chiller on my way to the rest room. This restaurant attracts the too cool for school crowd - if that's your scene, then by all means have at it. These were ordered medium as well and arrived at the table medium well and looked like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for 15+ minutes -- a grayish tint to the filets. For entree I had the filet mignon, medium rare, and thought it was tender and flavorful more so with the sauce, gives it a lil spicy peppery kick.
I saw that someone else's review mentions this as well. If they had the steaks to match, that would be easily a 4-5 star restaurant. Big let down — First, I had a reservation and upon arrival, I could not figure out what sins I could have committed in my life to get such a terrible table for 2; they squeezed me between two other tables and my elbows were literally almost scraping those of the people dining next to me. My friend had the bone marrow and liked it too. I've been to other steak places where the meat is either too dry or its not cooked to the right way you ask for it, etc. The waiters did an excellent job of managing the group and were spot on. Very good if you can afford it — I'm generally not a fan of the latest trend of over-hyped steakhouses, but there's no denying that the meat here is great.
